As a photographer, its important to master the technical basics of your camera and form an understanding of how and why you use manual mode to achieve the best results. What’s the first step? Get out of auto mode!

‘Auto mode’ can only do so much guesswork before frustration sets in when your camera isn’t doing what you want it to do. How many times have you taken a photo and looks: really blurry, too dark, Completely blue, the flash didn’t go off or the colours don’t look right.

In this workshop, I’ll explain the fundamentals of using your camera in manual mode and explain what each button on your camera is used for. Your camera may look scary with all those buttons but remember, they’re on the body of the camera instead of buried Somewhere inside a menu, making it easier for you to change settings.

I learn so much better by practising, so after a short introduction, we’ll head outside the studio and photograph real situations you may have come across in the past.

not only will you come away with the essential foundation of manual mode but also have the confidence in knowing how to bring your creative vision to life.
